Job Description

About the Company

Our client is a family-owned consumer brand development company with a track record of creating, launching, and scaling several well-known personal care brands. Today, the client manages a growing portfolio of established and emerging consumer brands across personal care, wellness, beverage, and household categories.

Role Overview

This is an in-office, full-time Senior Graphic Designer role based in Dallas, Texas. This person will be the client's primary internal creative resource, responsible for developing and executing high-quality creative work across the company's portfolio of brands.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role requiring a combination of original creative thinking, strong technical design capabilities, commercial judgment, and disciplined execution. The Senior Graphic Designer will create packaging, brand assets, digital and ecommerce content, social media graphics, retailer presentations, sales materials, trade-show graphics, product mockups, and other creative deliverables supporting the client and its brands.

Packaging will be a core area of responsibility, managing packaging projects from initial concepts and design development through production-ready artwork, including dielines, mechanicals, prepress preparation, proofing, color management, artwork revisions, and final file delivery.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this person will collaborate closely with the Brand Manager, Digital and Ecommerce Lead, external agencies, vendors, and other members of the team.

Responsibilities

Creative Development and Brand Design

  • Develop original concepts: Translate brand strategy, consumer insights, campaign objectives, and project briefs into original, compelling creative concepts.
  • Advance brand systems: Create and evolve brand identities, including logos, typography, color palettes, iconography, visual guidelines, and other foundational brand elements.
  • Extend agency work: Apply and expand externally developed brand systems across new products, formats, campaigns, and channels without relying on agencies to solve every new creative application.
  • Present thoughtful options: Develop multiple viable creative directions when appropriate and clearly communicate the reasoning, strengths, and tradeoffs behind each.
  • Protect brand consistency: Maintain visual consistency across packaging, retail, ecommerce, digital marketing, social media, sales materials, and physical brand experiences.

Packaging Design and Production

  • Own packaging development: Lead packaging design and execution across the client's brands, from initial concepts through production-ready artwork.
  • Create retail-ready designs: Develop packaging that is distinctive, commercially effective, easy to understand, and appropriate for its category and retail environment.
  • Manage technical execution: Work confidently with dielines, mechanicals, print specifications, prepress requirements, color systems, finishes, and production-ready files.
  • Ensure artwork accuracy: Confirm that packaging reflects approved copy, claims, specifications, legal lines, barcodes, dimensions, and other provided requirements before release.
  • Manage versions and extensions: Maintain accuracy and consistency across artwork revisions, product variants, fragrances, flavors, sizes, SKUs, and product lines.
  • Support production quality: Review proofs, communicate artwork requirements, and collaborate with printers, converters, manufacturers, and other partners to resolve production issues.

Digital, Ecommerce and Marketing Creative

  • Create digital assets: Produce polished, on-brand creative for paid and organic social media, DTC websites, email, Amazon, retailer.com platforms, and other digital channels.
  • Adapt creative by channel: Translate campaign ideas appropriately across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, websites, ecommerce platforms, and emerging channels.
  • Support digital merchandising: Create ecommerce imagery, product detail page content, banners, promotional graphics, infographics, product education, and other conversion-focused assets.
  • Build campaign systems: Develop coordinated creative assets that can scale across placements, sizes, platforms, audiences, and stages of the customer journey.

Sales, Retail and Corporate Support

  • Strengthen retailer presentations: Improve the visual quality, clarity, and consistency of buyer presentations, line-review decks, internal presentations, and other PowerPoint materials.
  • Develop selling materials: Create product mockups, sell sheets, retailer content, trade-show graphics, sampling materials, promotional assets, and other sales-support deliverables.
  • Support launches: Provide timely creative support for product launches, retailer submissions, presentations, trade shows, ecommerce launches, and marketing campaigns.
  • Respond to varied needs: Work hands-on across a broad range of creative assignments based on the changing priorities of AMS and its portfolio.

Ownership, Workflow and Collaboration

  • Own assignments end to end: Clarify requirements, identify dependencies, establish next steps, manage revisions, and carry work through final delivery.
  • Solve problems proactively: Investigate challenges, develop reasonable options, and recommend a path forward before escalating issues.
  • Maintain productive momentum: Advance work independently using available direction and information rather than allowing noncritical uncertainty to halt progress.
  • Manage competing priorities: Organize multiple projects across brands, communicate capacity or timeline risks early, and consistently meet agreed-upon deadlines.
  • Respond constructively to direction: Receive feedback professionally, incorporate requested changes, and raise creative or technical concerns with clear reasoning and proposed alternatives.
  • Maintain organized files: Establish and follow consistent standards for file naming, version control, templates, packaging artwork, working files, final files, and archives.
  • Improve creative operations: Help develop scalable workflows, templates, approval processes, and best practices that improve speed, visibility, accuracy, and creative output.
  • Coordinate external resources: Prepare assets and collaborate with agencies, photographers, videographers, rendering partners, printers, and other specialized vendors when external support is required.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of professional graphic design experience, preferably within consumer packaged goods, retail, branding, or a packaging-focused agency.
  • Demonstrated experience creating original brand and packaging concepts, not solely adapting or producing previously established creative.
  • Significant experience designing packaging for consumer products sold through retail or ecommerce channels.
  • Strong knowledge of dielines, mechanicals, print production, prepress, color management, proofing, and production-ready artwork preparation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and PowerPoint.
  • Strong typography, layout, composition, visual storytelling, and information-hierarchy skills.
  • Experience designing across packaging, digital, ecommerce, social media, presentations, and physical marketing materials.
  • Ability to manage several brands and concurrent projects in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistent quality-control discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and complete assignments without continuous supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to present thoughtful recommendations when facing incomplete information or creative challenges.
  • Clear, respectful, and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to receive direction and feedback constructively while contributing an informed creative point of view.
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent professional experience and a strong portfolio will also be considered.

Required Portfolio

Candidates must submit a portfolio demonstrating:

  • Original packaging and brand-design concepts.
  • Consumer packaging that has progressed into production or reached the market.
  • Examples showing the development of a concept from brief or initial idea through final execution.
  • Brand systems applied consistently across multiple channels or formats.
  • Digital, ecommerce, social, presentation, or sales-support creative.
  • Clear identification of the candidate's individual role and contribution to each featured project.

AMS may ask candidates to explain which elements they personally originated, which were developed collaboratively, and which were adapted from an existing brand or agency-created system.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in-house for a consumer products company or within a strong packaging, branding, or design agency.
  • Experience supporting mass retail, grocery, drug, specialty retail, Amazon, retailer.com, or DTC channels.
  • Familiarity with Figma, Shopify, and ecommerce content-management workflows.
  • Experience with 3D product visualization, digital product rendering, or platforms such as Omi.
  • Experience coordinating photography, video, motion graphics, printing, or other external creative production.
  • Experience working across multiple brands, product categories, or stages of brand development.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this position means:

  • Original, commercially relevant creative ideas are consistently developed, not simply adaptations of outside agency work.
  • Packaging and other creative deliverables are completed accurately, on time, and with minimal avoidable rework.
  • Projects continue progressing when challenges arise because the designer investigates issues and brings proposed solutions.
  • Strategic and creative direction is translated into strong execution without requiring step-by-step supervision.
  • Feedback is received and addressed promptly, professionally, and constructively.
  • Work is prioritized effectively across brands, with capacity concerns and timeline risks communicated before deadlines are missed.
  • AMS brands maintain a consistent and increasingly distinctive visual presence across packaging, retail, ecommerce, digital, and sales channels.
  • Retailer presentations, product launches, and marketing initiatives receive reliable, high-quality creative support.
  • Packaging files, brand assets, templates, and archives remain accurate, current, and easy for the organization to access.
  • Creative workflows become faster, more organized, and more scalable as the AMS portfolio grows.
  • The Director of Marketing can provide objectives, context, priorities, and feedback while relying on the Senior Graphic Designer to manage the creative process and execution.
