About the Company
Our client is a wellness and skincare brand built inside a publicly traded parent company. The client has grown quickly into one of the top sellers in its category, doing $300M plus in annual revenue, 100% online, 100% DTC. The team runs lean and moves fast, everyone sits together in the New York office, and the bar for talent is high, most of the team comes out of consulting, private equity, or investment banking before making the jump into building brands.
Unlimited PTO, full health coverage, a 401k with performance bonus, and RSUs for senior hires round out the package.
Role Overview
This is a hybrid (4 days/week) Head of Creative Strategy role based in New York, NY. This role owns building out the client's creative organization to keep pace with the brand's growth. This isn't a legacy beauty creative role, the client wants someone who thinks about performance and consumer behavior first, someone building the content engine that supports new product categories and new channels like TV. This person will operate as a player and a coach: setting direction for the team while staying hands-on enough to shape the work itself.
Responsibilities
- Scale the creative org: Own and grow a team of 13 across creative pods, with a third pod coming online, building the structure and process that lets the team scale with the brand.
- Build the content engine: Stand up the creative infrastructure that supports the brand's expansion into new product categories and new channels, including TV.
- Lead with consumer insight: Bring a sharp read on the consumer into every creative decision, translating insight into ideas that move performance metrics, not just look good.
- Think inside performance, outside the box: Push the creative team past formulaic performance ads, finding the ideas that stand out in a crowded feed while still driving results.
- Manage talent and influencer relationships: Direct creative work involving celebrities and influencers, from concept through execution.
- Partner across the business: Work in close step with the media buying lead and company leadership, aligning creative output with spend and business goals even though the two roles don't report to each other.
- Operate as player and coach: Balance setting strategy for the team with staying hands-on in the work when the moment calls for it.
Who They're Looking For
- Has managed and scaled a creative team, ideally across multiple pods at once.
- Comes from a background that signals raw caliber, whether that's a top university, a strategy consulting background, or equivalent hands-on experience building brands. Marketing pedigree matters less than how sharp the candidate is.
- Real experience directing work with celebrities and influencers.
- Thinks like a consumer first and a marketer second, and can turn that instinct into creative that performs.
- Has built or scaled a creative function from the ground up, not just managed an existing one.
- Comfortable being both the strategist and the person still in the work day to day.
- Based in or willing to relocate to New York and can work from the office four days a week.
- Background isn't rooted in legacy beauty. The client wants a fresh perspective, not the same playbook everyone else in the category runs.
This role is ideal for a builder who can set the strategy and still get in the work, someone ready to stand up a creative organization from the ground up as the brand pushes into new categories and channels.
