Job Description

About the Company

Our client is a dog products company built around joy, connection, and the delightful chaos that defines the bond between dogs and their people. The client isn't just selling toys, it's on a mission to build the leading company in its category. It operates at the intersection of data, technology, and pure creativity, moving fast, testing relentlessly, and using real feedback from millions of customers to build smarter systems, better products, and more meaningful experiences.

Role Overview

This is a Director, Growth Marketing role, New York preferred, open to remote. The Growth team is responsible for bringing new customers into the client and making sure the right customers are being acquired at the right economics. This role reports directly to the Chief Direct to Consumer Officer and sits at the center of how the DTC growth plan is set and delivered.

This person will own the strategy and performance of the paid marketing portfolio, leading a network of agency partners while directly building new and emerging channels where there isn't yet outside support. They'll also connect the dots between marketing, creative, merchandising, product, and the site so that the entire growth engine is working toward the same goals.

Who They're Looking For

A performance marketer who thinks beyond media buying. CAC matters, but only useful when paired with customer quality, LTV, conversion, and ultimately profitable growth.

Comfortable managing a large portfolio through agency partners without outsourcing the thinking to them. Knows when to push, when to change course, and when an emerging opportunity is worth building in-house.

Highly analytical and equally comfortable turning that analysis into a clear point of view. Moves quickly when the market changes, uses AI and automation to get to answers faster, and doesn't need a perfectly defined playbook before getting started. Ambitious about the results and low-ego about how they get there.

And yes, must love dogs.

Responsibilities

  • Own the client's DTC acquisition strategy and performance across a $25M+ marketing portfolio [FLAG: specific budget figure, confirm OK to post publicly], balancing new subscriber growth, CAC, LTV, customer quality, and site conversion to deliver against ambitious growth goals.
  • Set the strategy and performance expectations for the network of media agencies. Hold partners accountable to results, challenge their thinking, and continuously reallocate investment based on what the business and market are telling us.
  • Identify, test, and scale new and emerging acquisition channels where the client does not have an agency partner, building the strategy and operating model from the ground up when the opportunity warrants it.
  • Own the integrated promotional calendar across acquisition channels and work closely with merchandising, product, creative, and site teams to make sure offers and growth products are compelling, available when needed, and built to convert.
  • Build a smarter growth operating system using data, AI, automation, and rigorous experimentation to improve forecasting, surface performance shifts earlier, accelerate decision-making, and help move investment toward the highest-value opportunities.

What They Bring

  • 7+ years of performance or growth marketing experience, ideally within a consumer products, subscription, ecommerce, or DTC business.
  • Experience owning strategy and performance for $15M+ annual marketing budgets across multiple paid acquisition channels.
  • A strong command of growth economics, including CAC, LTV, customer quality, conversion, incrementality, and the tradeoffs between near-term acquisition and long-term value.
  • Experience managing multiple agencies or external partners and holding them accountable for both strategic thinking and performance.
  • Hands-on experience launching, testing, or scaling acquisition channels rather than relying exclusively on agency partners.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to turn messy performance data into a clear recommendation and course of action.
  • Experience using AI, automation, and modern analytics tools to improve how marketing performance is analyzed, optimized, and communicated.
  • Strong communication skills and the judgment to make complex growth decisions clear to executive leadership and partners across the business.
  • Comfort operating with significant independence, changing direction quickly when the data calls for it, and defining the path forward when there isn't an existing playbook.
  • A genuine love of dogs and excitement about building a company that makes life better for them and their people.

This is a full-time remote/hybrid role. Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits are offered, designed to support employees and their pets, including comprehensive healthcare, pet wellness coverage, and the flexibility and support needed to do the best work.
